The Master's Degree in Biotechnology and Innovation aims to train professionals capable of promoting innovation in different areas of Biotechnology. This course is designed for professionals working in fields related to Biotechnology who wish to update, consolidate or modernize their knowledge.
This master's programme offers different optional tracks, each comprising a curricular component – corresponding to a specialization course (postgraduate) – and a thesis component in the respective area. The currently offered specializations are:
Food Science
Human Nutrition
Health and Quality of Life
Environment and Sustainability
The entire programme is designed in a lifelong learning model and tailored to its target audience: mainly technical staff with professional experience in fields related to the respective specialization.
Holders of a bachelor's degree, or legal equivalent, in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related fields. Holders of a degree in other fields may also be admitted, subject to a favorable opinion from the Coordination Committee.
Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in the fields mentioned above, awarded after a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a state that adheres to this Process.
Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in the fields mentioned in point a), recognized by the Scientific Council of ESB-UCP as meeting the objectives of a bachelor's degree.
Candidates with an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council of ESB-UCP as demonstrating the ability to undertake this cycle of studies.

The opening of the 2nd and 3rd phases depends on the number of available places remaining from the previous phase.

If you have not yet completed your degree or if you have finished but do not yet have the official certificate, you must provide proof of completed course units (if no official document is available, you may submit a printout from your student area on your university’s platform), as well as one of the following declarations:
Honor declaration – applicants without completed bachelor’s degree
Honor declaration – applicants with completed degree but without certificate
Documents issued in other countries must be legalized by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority in the issuing country, or contain the Hague Apostille, except for United Kingdom, and countries from EU, European Economic Area, or European Free Trade Association.
Any certificate or transcript not issued in English, French, or Spanish, must be accompanied by a certified translation.

Your application will only be considered valid after the payment has been confirmed by UCP. Therefore, you must make the payment using the ATM references provided at the final step of the application process.
Please refer to the Fees and Tuition section for information about application, registration, and tuition fees, as well as other payment-related details.
The results will be published on a digital platform with restricted access to candidates, who will receive the credentials and access link by email, on a date close to their publication.
Enrollment information will be sent to admitted applicants after the publication of results. For this process, the following documentation will be required:
Passport-style photograph (*.JPG, *.PNG or *.GIF)
Copy of the vaccination record to confirm tetanus vaccination (only the relevant page)
Information requested by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (RAIDES survey)
Enrollment form and other specific documents to be indicated at the time of admission
Proof of payment of the enrollment fee and the first monthly tuition fee (payment instructions will be provided in the communication giving access to the enrollment platform)
Failure to complete enrollment within the specified deadline will be considered a withdrawal by the applicant.
The original qualification documents must be presented before the beginning of classes, on a date and time to be set by the Academic Services.
