Master’s in Psychology and Human Resource Development - Call for Applications

Both Master programmes are fully taught in Portuguese.

Applicants to the Master's in Psychology must hold (alternatively):

  • a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a legally equivalent qualification obtained in Portugal;
  • a foreign higher academic degree in Psychology, awarded after a first cycle of studies structured in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a country that adheres to this Process;
  • a foreign higher academic degree in Psychology that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a Bachelor's degree by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Education and Psychology.

The opening of applications in each call depends on the availability of places from the previous calls.

The Faculty reserves the right to set a minimum application grade for the master's degrees in each call, depending on the quality of the applicants' results.

Note: Applications for the specialization in Clinical and Health Psychology of the Master in Psychology are closed.

Number of places:

  • Master's in Psychology: 75 (for all specializations combined)
  • Master's in Psychology and Human Resource Development: 25

The Faculty of Education and Psychology reserves the right to define the number of places per specialization area in each phase.

  • Copy of Identification Document
  • Academic Transcript* (detailed, including course units, grades obtained, ECTS, final average, and grading scale indicating minimum and maximum passing marks) (mandatory only for external applicants to FEP-UCP)
  • Curriculum Vitae, specific form (accessible here)
  • Form for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) – if applicable

If you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree, or have completed it but do not have the final certificate, you must replace the degree certificate with a transcript of completed course units (if no official document is available, you may submit a screenshot or printout from your university’s student portal), as well as fill in one of the following declarations:

*NOTES:

When documents are issued in another country (outside Portugal), they must be legalized by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority in the country of origin, or contain the Hague Apostille, issued by the competent authority of the issuing country. This requirement does not apply to documents issued in the United Kingdom, EU countries, countries in the European Economic Area, or the European Free Trade Association.

If documents are written in a foreign language other than Spanish, English or French, an official translation must be submitted in accordance with notarial law.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through Católica Porto's online platform. Please make sure that the application period is open before proceeding.

Your application will only be considered valid after payment of the respective fee, which must be made using the ATM references provided at the end of the application process, or by bank transfer if you do not hold a bank account in Portugal.

Please refer to the "Tuition and Fees" section for information regarding application fees, enrollment fees, and tuition fees, as well as other relevant payment details.

The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

The results will be published in a digital platform of restricted access to the applicants, who will receive the credentials and access link by email, on a date close to the publication of the results, being presented with one of the following designations:

  • Admitted
  • Conditionally Admitted” (admission depends on completion of the undergraduate degree and submission of the respective supporting documents by the stipulated deadline)
  • Deferred to the Next Call” (will be assessed in the next phase under equal conditions with new applicants)
  • Not Admitted

Only Admitted applicants will be able to proceed to the registration.

Enrollment information will be sent to admitted candidates after the publication of the results. For this process, the following documents must be prepared:

  • Passport-style photograph (*.JPG, *.PNG, or *.GIF)
  • Copy of the vaccination record to prove tetanus vaccination (only the relevant page)
  • Information requested by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education
  • Enrollment form and other specific documents to be indicated at the time of admission
  • Proof of payment of the enrollment fee and the 1st monthly tuition fee (payment details will be provided in the communication granting access to the enrollment platform)

If the undergraduate degree has not been completed at the time of enrollment, enrollment will be provisional and subject to submission of the respective degree certificate by the deadline:

  • Candidates admitted in the 1st and 2nd calls: July 31, 2026
  • Candidates admitted in the 3rd call: may only enroll upon presentation of the degree certificate

A student who has not completed the undergraduate degree does not meet the necessary requirements and may not attend the Master's program.

Failure to enroll within the stipulated deadline will be considered as withdrawal by the candidate.

Original documents certifying qualifications, duly legalized or apostilled where applicable, must be presented before the start of classes, on a date and time to be defined by the Academic Services.
