Academic Year 2026/27 - Call for Applications Notice - Available here

The following may apply for the PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage:

a) Holders of a master’s degree or legally equivalent qualification obtained in Portugal.

b) Holders of a master’s degree or legally equivalent qualification obtained abroad, after recognition by the Scientific Council of the School of Arts of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa as meeting the objectives of the master’s degree (solely for the purpose of application to this study cycle).

c) Holders of a bachelor’s degree, with a minimum grade of 16 (out of 20), and with an especially relevant academic, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized as demonstrating the ability to undertake this study cycle by the Scientific Council of the School of Arts of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The opening of applications for the 2nd and 3rd phases depends on the number of remaining places from the previous phase.

PLACES: 10 (for all application phases combined)

  • Copy of Identification Document/Passport

  • Curriculum Vitae, including references to published works or other properly documented work;

  • Academic qualifications certificate* (original or certified copy), indicating the final grade.

  • Motivation letter indicating research interests;

*Notes:

Documents issued in other countries must be legalized by a Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority in the issuing country, or bear the Hague Apostille, except if issued in the United Kingdom, in EU countries, or in countries belonging to the European Economic Area or the European Free Trade Association.

When documents are written in a foreign language other than Spanish, English, or French, a certified translation must be provided, in accordance with notarial law.

Before submitting your online application, you must ensure that applications for the course you wish to apply for are open. You should also gather all the required documents and upload them when submitting your application online.

Office Hours: Monday to Friday, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Your application will only be considered valid after the respective fee payment has been confirmed by UCP. Therefore, you must make the payment using the ATM references (for Portuguese bank accounts) or the bank data (international bank transfers) provided in the final admission information, and send proof of payment to (candidaturas.porto@ucp.pt).

The application fee is non-refundable.

The results will be published on a digital platform with restricted access for applicants, who will receive the access credentials and link by email near the publication date.

Enrollment information will be sent to admitted candidates after the publication of results. For this process, the following documents will be required:

  • Passport-style photograph (*.JPG, *.PNG)

  • Copy of the vaccination record to prove tetanus vaccination (only the page related to this record)

  • Information requested by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (RAIDES survey)

  • Enrollment form and other specific documents to be indicated at the time of admission

  • Proof of payment of the enrollment fee and the first monthly tuition fee (payment information will be provided when access to the enrollment platform is granted)

Failure to complete enrollment within the stipulated deadline will be considered a withdrawal by the applicant.

The original versions of the previously submitted documents (academic certificate and other documents) must be presented before the start of classes, on a date and time to be defined by the Academic Services.
