Admission Requirements
- Hold Portuguese nationality or that of a European Union country[1]
- Have completed secondary education in Portugal or abroad[2]
- Have successfully completed one of the following sets of national exams in 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, or 2022[3]
- (02) Biology and Geology OR
- (02) Biology and Geology + (18) Portuguese OR
- (02) Biology and Geology + (16) Mathematics OR
- (02) Biology and Geology + (07) Physics and Chemistry
OR equivalent exams under the foreign diploma within the same period[2]
[1]Citizens who are not nationals of an EU country may be eligible provided they are not covered by the international student status

(b) if you completed foreign secondary education, in Portugal or abroad – Diploma of completion of foreign secondary education [2] (indicating the final grade and all completed exams) AND Certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education [3]
- Pre-Requisite Group A – Interpersonal Communication;
- Copy of ID document;
- Application form for additional quota places (if applicable);
- Form for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) – (if applicable).

Applicants from foreign secondary education in Portugal, whose results are only made available after the end of the 1st and/or 2nd application phases, should contact: admissions.porto@ucp.pt
Applications must be submitted via the UCP Porto's online application platform. Please ensure that applications are open before proceeding. During the application process, you will be required to upload scanned copies of the documents listed above, so please prepare them in advance.
If you submit your application before the national exam results are released, you may do so without the ENES Sheet, but it must be sent by email (to candidaturas.porto@ucp.pt) in scanned format no later than the application deadline for each call.
Changes to the application after submission
All changes you wish to make to your application after submitting it on the platform (adding a course from the same faculty, attaching the ENES Sheet or another document, or correcting any information) must be requested by email to candidaturas.porto@ucp.pt, attaching updated copies of the documents and indicating your full name and application number.

This admission regime is intended for Portuguese candidates or nationals of a European Union member state.
To apply, you must cumulatively meet the following conditions:
Be or have been enrolled in a higher education programme at a national or foreign higher education institution, provided that you were admitted in academic years prior to the one for which you are applying. Approval in course units is not mandatory for eligibility, although the number of ECTS credits successfully completed will contribute positively to the application score.
Have successfully completed (minimum 95 points) one of the following sets of national exams (in any year) OR equivalent exams under a foreign diploma (see the accepted foreign exams here)

(b) if you completed foreign secondary education, in Portugal or abroad – Diploma of completion of foreign secondary education [1] (indicating final grade and each exam taken) AND Certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education [2]
- Pre-Requisite Group A – Interpersonal Communication;
- Copy of identification document;
- Certificate of attendance of a higher education course, including completed subjects, respective grades, and ECTS OR if no subjects were completed, proof of enrolment and registration at the previous institution;
- ENES Form (National Secondary Education Exams), issued in any year, including the secondary school average and entrance exam (Biology and Geology (02) OR Biology and Geology (02) and Physics and Chemistry (07) OR Biology and Geology (02) and Mathematics (16)). If you completed foreign secondary education, in Portugal or abroad, replace the ENES Form with the Diploma of completion of foreign secondary education [1] (indicating the final grade and each exam taken) and Certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education [2];
- Form for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) – (if applicable).

This admission regime is intended for Portuguese candidates or nationals of a European Union country who cumulatively:
- Are at least 23 years old by December 31, 2025
- Do not hold a qualification granting access to higher education[1]
- Meet the prerequisite: Group A – interpersonal communication certified by a medical certificate.
[1] The student is not considered to hold a higher education access qualification if:
- They have not completed secondary education; or
- They have completed secondary education but do not have valid entrance exams (valid in the year they are taken and the two following years)
The legal framework regulating access to higher education for those over 23 years old does not prevent the student from having attended university or holding a degree.
Candidates are required to take a special exam, which takes place at the Institute of Health Sciences and covers the following areas:
Mathematics
a) Calculation of areas and volumes
b) Basic notions of Trigonometry
c) Analysis of graphs and tables
d) Basic arithmetic calculations
Biology
a) General cell organization
b) Evolution; agents of evolution
c) Cellular respiration
Chemistry
a) Composition of matter (atoms, molecules, ions)
b) Balancing chemical equations
In addition to these areas, the written exam also assesses interpretation and writing skills, both in Portuguese and English.
Candidates scoring below 10 points in this exam will be eliminated.
