Admission Requirements

  • Hold Portuguese nationality or that of a European Union country[1]

  • Have completed secondary education in Portugal or abroad[2]

  • Have successfully completed one of the following sets of national exams listed below in 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, or 2022[3]
     

  • (18) Portuguese + (04) Biology and Geology OR

  • (18) Portuguese + (17) Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences OR

  • (18) Portuguese + (06) Philosophy

 

OR equivalent exams under the foreign diploma taken in the same period[2]

 

[1]Citizens who are not nationals of an EU country may be eligible provided they are not covered by the international student status

[3]In the 1st application call, only the results of the exams taken in the 1st call of national exams will be used for the admission score calculation.

The minimum admission score to be considered eligible is 100 points. The Faculty of Education and Psychology reserves the right to set a higher minimum admission score than 100 points in each phase, depending on the quality of applicants' results.

(b) If you completed foreign secondary education, in Portugal or abroad – Secondary education diploma[2] (including the final classification and all exams taken) AND Certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education[3]

[1] In the 1st application phase, only the results of the exams taken during the 1st phase of national exams will be considered when calculating the application score.

[2] Documents issued in other countries must be legalized by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority in the issuing country, or bear the Hague Apostille, except if issued in the United Kingdom, EU, European Economic Area, or European Free Trade Association. Applicants from foreign secondary schools in Portugal
Applicants from foreign secondary education institutions in Portugal whose results are only available after the 1st and/or 2nd application phases must contact: admissions.porto@ucp.pt

Applications must be submitted through the UCP Porto online application platform. Make sure that applications are open beforehand. During the application process, you will need to upload scanned copies of the above-mentioned documents, so please prepare them in advance.

If you submit your application before the release of the national exam results, you may do so without the ENES Form, but it must be sent by email (to candidaturas.porto@ucp.pt) as a scanned document by the application deadline for each call.

Changes to the application after submission

All changes you wish to make to your application after submitting it on the platform (adding a course from the same faculty, attaching the ENES form or another document, or correcting information), must be requested by email to candidaturas.porto@ucp.pt, attaching a copy of the updated documents and identifying your full name and applicant number.

Failure to complete registration within the specified period will be considered a withdrawal.

This admission regime is intended for Portuguese applicants or nationals of a European Union member state.

To apply, candidates must cumulatively meet the following conditions:

  • Be or have been enrolled in a higher education course at a higher education institution (national or international), provided they were admitted in academic years prior to the one in which they are applying. To be eligible, it is not required to have passed course units, although the number of ECTS credits completed successfully will positively influence the admission score.

  • Have successfully completed (minimum 95 points) one of the following sets of national exams (in any year) OR equivalent exams under a foreign diploma (see the accepted foreign exams here)

Applicants must meet the following requirements cumulatively:

This admission regime is intended for Portuguese applicants or nationals of a European Union country who cumulatively:

  • Are at least 23 years old by December 31, 2025

  • Do not hold a qualification granting access to higher education[1]

[1] The applicant is not considered to hold a qualification granting access to higher education if:

  • They did not complete secondary education; or

  • They completed secondary education but do not have valid entrance exams (valid in the year of completion and the two following years)

The legal framework regulating access to higher education for applicants over 23 years of age does not prohibit students from having previously attended university or a bachelor's degree.


Applicants must take an exam designed to assess their general knowledge and skills in Psychology, as well as their comprehension, expression, reasoning, and critical thinking abilities.

The exam lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and consists of two sections:

  • In the first section, three essay questions are presented, from which the applicant must choose one (supporting reference no. 1).

  • The second section contains essay questions on topics relating to current national and/or international affairs, from which the candidate must choose just one.
