Applications 2026/27 | 1st Semester – Applications Notice
If you already have all the necessary information, follow the steps below and submit your application. If you still have questions, visit the dedicated programme webpage.
Admissions are open to applicants who hold (or will hold during the current academic year) a Bachelor's degree (or legal equivalent) in Law, History, International Relations, Economics, Management, Military Sciences or another area of Social Sciences or Humanities.
- Master's in Law, in one of the following specializations:
- Administrative Law
- Business and Corporate Law
- Constitutionalism, Democracy and Human Rights
- Labour Law
- International and European Law
- International and European Law – International Studies Programme[1]
- General (no specialization)
- Tax Law
The following areas of the Master's in Law are not currently accepting applications:
- Criminal Law
- Private Law
These programmes are taught in Portuguese, except for the International Studies Programme, which is entirely taught in English. Within the Portuguese-taught programmes, some optional courses/seminars may be delivered in English.

* Interviews are only for applicants without a Law degree and for candidates who completed their degree abroad, and who pass the first selection stage based on academic background (see point 6 of the Application Notice).

Official Bachelor's Degree Certificate* (detailing subjects, grades, ECTS and final classification) – Only for students who did not graduate from UCP.
If you have not yet completed your degree or have finished but do not yet have the final certificate, you must submit the following documents instead:
- Transcript of completed courses / academic record (if you don’t have an officially validated document, you may submit a screenshot from your student area), and
- One of the following declarations, depending on your situation:
Declaration of Honour – applicants without a completed bachelor's degree or Declaration of Honour– applicants with a completed degree but no certificate
- Form for students with Special Education Needs (SEN) – if applicable
- Request addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Law – Porto School, requesting credit transfer for previous education – if applicable
Applications from students who have not yet completed their degree will be assessed based on the submitted transcript and sworn declaration. Any admission will be conditional on the presentation of the official degree certificate by the deadline defined by UCP at the time results are communicated. If the final grade is lower than the declared grade, the Coordination may re-evaluate the application before issuing a final decision.
* Notes:
Original academic documents must be presented before the start of classes, on a date set by the Academic Services.
If issued in a country other than Portugal, documents must be legalized by a Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority in the issuing country, or include the Hague Apostille if the issuing country is a party to the Hague Convention, except documents issued in the United Kingdom, EU countries, the European Economic Area, or members of the European Free Trade Association.
If documents are in a foreign language other than Spanish, English or French, a certified translation must be submitted, following the terms defined by notarial law.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through Católica Porto's online platform. Please ensure that the application period is open before starting.
Note: To apply for the International Studies Programme, choose the Master's in Law and then select the area "International and European Law – International Studies Programme".

Your application will only be considered valid once the corresponding fee has been confirmed by UCP. Therefore, you must complete the payment according to the instructions provided in the final application summary.
Please refer to the Tuition Fees section for details on application, registration and tuition fees, as well as other payment-related information.
The results will be published on a digital platform with restricted access for applicants, who will receive login credentials and the access link by email, close to the publication date. The outcome will be presented with one of the following statuses:
- “Admitted” – if the applicant is admitted without any condition
- “Admitted Conditionally” – admission is subject to completion of the undergraduate degree and submission of the corresponding official documents by the stipulated date
- "Referred to the Next Call" – the applicant is not admitted in this phase but will be re-evaluated, under the same conditions, with new applicants in the next phase. This is an automatic process and requires no formal action or payment from the applicant. Updated documents can be submitted via email to candidaturas.porto@ucp.pt
- “Not Admitted”
Only applicants who were Admitted or Admitted Conditionally may enroll.
The following items are required for enrollment:
- Passport-style photograph (*.JPG, *.PNG or *.GIF)
- Copy of the vaccination record showing proof of tetanus vaccine (only the page with this entry)
- Information required by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (RAIDES survey)
- Enrollment form and other specific documents indicated at the time of admission
- Proof of payment of the enrollment fee and the first monthly tuition installment (payment instructions will be provided upon access to the enrollment platform)
Failure to complete enrollment within the stipulated period will be interpreted as withdrawal by the candidate.
Original qualification certificates (properly legalized if issued in a foreign country) must be presented before the start of classes, on a date and time to be determined by the Academic Services.
